Math Foundation Contest this year will be held on April 29th 2006. For those who are not familiar with the format, this is a written test conducted in 6 different levels. The duration of the test is one hour and there are 60 math problems that the children are required to solve. Evaluations are done the same day and results are announced via the website within 2 days. The winners receive trophies, medals, certificates and gift certificates worth $100,00, $75.00 or $50.00 each. If you have not already enrolled your child for the contest, please do so ASAP. The last date is April 10th. Preparation materials may be ordered and are being mailed within two business days of us receiving the form and fees.

April Vacation 17th - 21st, 2006

ATFS Learning Center will be open 9:30 – 5 p.m. for April vacation. Children spend time preparing for MCAS and work on additional academic activities all day. We are open for all ATFS as well as non ATFS students. Please plan early. Vacation sign up forms are now available and will be expected back in the office by April 7th. Please consider this is your child’s appointment with the staff. For new students, these must be accompanied by a $20.00 registration fee as well as basic enrollment form from our website.

Be a Volunteer

ATFS welcomes volunteers during the summer camps. Each summer high school kids volunteer with us and help out with some enrichment programs. We are now accepting applications.If you or your high schooler would like to work with children of ages 5 - 13, and have a skill to share , please fill out applications form and mail to us. Possible areas for volunteering would be academic time from 9 to 12; Language hour 1 - 2, hobby hour 2 - 3, science experiments and projects 3 - 5. Hobby hour could be sharing any of your creative skills like, art, crafts, cake decorating, story time, quizzes, yoga, music time, chess or any other games. You could choose from one day a week to 5 days a week. Our camps would be open from July 10th through August 25th. Moms and dads, elder sisters and brothers, high schoolers, college students and grand moms - can join in and make this a fun camp. Recommendation letters will be given to volunteer students for future applications.

Science Fair 2006

This year will will be to holding a science fair around the first week of September. (tentative date - September 9th). This will be open to all ATFS as well as non ATFS students. Projects will be invited and displayed. Project should include a working model as well a project report displayed on a poster board. Children will be asked to present their projects to the audiences and judges. We will be releasing more information about this soon. To be in the loop, please watch this newsletter regularly.
