Introduction

ATFS follows a set worksheet based curriculum. ATFS Math Curriculum is divided into 5 different Levels that take a child from KG to Grade 12 in 5 major steps. Each Level is further subdivided into units per grade. The curriculum is designed to take the child through each unit over one month. Each grade has 10 pre-defined units that are assigned through the 10 month period September through June. These topics are similar to what they are expected to know at their grade level but just a little advanced. A unit test is conducted at our center at the end of each unit on the first Friday of the month. This suggested path for each grade level is followed unless the parents opt out of it and would like their child to select different topics in the Math Topic selection plan. We offer  different environments and work with you to customize the best suited for your child. Children enroll to our after school environment to get better study habits. Our Saturday classes provide consultation and week homework. Our Take out programs offer self study materials. In addition, we offer private tutoring throughout the year. These are listed below.

 ATFS Levels,  Units and Tests

Grades KG & 1 – Level A
Grades 2 & 3 – Level 1
Grades 4 & 5 – Level 2
Grades 6,7 & 8 – Level 3
Grades 9, 10, 11 & 12 – Level 4

Each ATFS level has 10 units defined per grade. Math is a workbook driven program. One workbook is assigned per unit which includes all varieties of worksheet. Each child is expected to complete the assigned units each month. If a child is slower and needs extra time, they may take extension. If the child is faster and is able to complete the unit ahead of time, they will automatically be assigned the next unit. The unit test is recommended only after the unit is completed.
If your child misses the unit test, they may take it the next month.  Unit tests are held at the center each month. Each child must be signed up for the test. This test is available to students enrolled in all programs but they need to come to the center to take the test. This is not a take home test and no make up dates are given. Workbooks for each unit are evaluated and count towards 100% of the rewards. Unit tests are only for assessment, are optional and are not counted towards the rewards.

 Curriculum

ATFS curriculum is based on NTCM standards. ATFS worksheets have been designed and developed by a team of teachers at the ATFS center in Shrewsbury. All supporting materials have been taken from various sources like workbooks, textbooks and the internet with a lot of care and precision in order to cover each topic thoroughly. The material collections have been sequenced in way that the child is able to see the big picture as well as the minor details. We have arranged the materials in such a way that children are able to understand different approaches as well as be able to apply them in word problems. The goal has been to develop mathematical and analytical skills.
